Lusiana Dalituicama
Lusiana Dalituicama is a proud young leader of the Fiji Islands who recently graduated from the World Maritime University, specialising in Ocean Sustainability, Governance, and Management. As a former civil servant, she previously worked in the Research Unit of Fiji's Ministry of Fisheries, where she participated in Marine Protected Area Development projects and contributed to fisheries research and conservation efforts in Fiji.
During her time with the Ministry, Lusiana was one of the youngest and few active female divers engaged in reef assessments in customary fishing rights areas within Fijian waters. She also took part in a joint reef expedition with local and international researchers on the Great Sea Reef in Fiji, which is the world's third-largest continuous barrier reef system. Before joining the Ministry, she was involved in environmental protection programs in the western maritime islands of Fiji through her work with a local NGO.
Her experiences, combined with the influence of her family and cultural heritage, have motivated her current involvement in ocean conservation. Lusiana understands that the ocean sustains her people, providing them with their identity and acting as the lifeline connecting the Blue Pacific community.
