Far North Queensland Talanoa and Pasifika Roundtable

PAYA was honoured to participate in the recent Far North Queensland Talanoa and Pasifika Community Roundtable, bringing together Pacific community and faith leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping Pacific communities across the region.

The gathering commenced with a traditional kava ceremony and prayer, creating a welcoming space grounded in Pacific culture, respect, and shared values. This meaningful opening set the tone for open and honest conversations, where participants reflected on the experiences of Pacific peoples and explored ways to strengthen community wellbeing.

Throughout the roundtable, PAYA had the opportunity to listen, contribute, and engage with community leaders on issues affecting Pacific communities, particularly the aspirations, development, and wellbeing of young people. The discussions reinforced the importance of collaboration, cultural connection, and collective action in creating lasting opportunities for Pacific youth.

PAYA values opportunities to participate in conversations that bring together diverse voices and perspectives. By engaging with leaders across the Pacific community, the organisation continues to strengthen relationships and contribute to initiatives that empower young people, foster leadership, and support resilient and connected communities across the Pacific region.
