Drugs and Alcohol Policy

Introduction

PAYA Inc. is committed to the safety, well-being, and positive development of young people aged 18-35 in the Pacific Islands. Our organisation recognises that local customs, laws, and etiquette around drugs and alcohol may vary across different island nations. Therefore, it is essential to establish a comprehensive policy that fosters responsible and safe behavior related to drugs and alcohol during PAYA Inc. events. This policy applies to all participants, staff, volunteers, and partners involved in our activities.

Legal Compliance

Participants must adhere to the legal drinking age and any local laws regarding the possession, sale, and consumption of alcohol in the specific island nation where the event is held. Violation of local laws is strictly prohibited.

The illict use, possession, distribution, or sale of legal or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at any PAYA Inc. event. Such actions will be reported to local authorities.

Responsible Alcohol Consumption

PAYA Inc. promotes responsible alcohol consumption. Participants of legal drinking age are encouraged to drink in moderation.

PAYA Inc. events may offer alcoholic beverages. We will monitor and regulate the distribution of alcohol to ensure it is provided responsibly and in compliance with local laws and customs.

PAYA Inc. will provide non-alcoholic beverages at events to accommodate participants who choose not to consume alcohol.

Safety and Well-being

We prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants. If someone appears to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, we will take appropriate action to ensure their safety, which may include contacting medical professionals or local authorities if necessary.

Participants are encouraged to watch out for each other's well-being and seek assistance if they believe someone is in distress.

Respect for Local Customs and Etiquette

PAYA Inc. respects and acknowledges that Pacific Island nations have diverse customs and etiquette regarding drinking and drug use. Participants are expected to be mindful and respectful of these local norms.

Zero Tolerance for Drug Distribution

The distribution or sale of drugs at PAYA Inc. events is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion from the event and may involve legal consequences.

Reporting and Enforcement

Any violations of this policy should be reported to PAYA Inc. staff or designated event personnel.

PAYA Inc. reserves the right to take appropriate action, which may include expulsion from the event, in response to policy violations.

PAYA Inc. is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants. By adhering to this Drugs and Alcohol Policy, we aim to ensure that our events are enjoyable and free from the negative consequences of drug and alcohol misuse, while respecting the diverse cultures and customs of the Pacific Islands.
